# Corrections policy

We work hard to get things right, and we fix what we get wrong. When we make a mistake, we correct it quickly and tell readers what changed.

## How to report an error

Use our [contact form](/contact/) or email us at [news@marylandfeed.com](mailto:news@marylandfeed.com). Please include a link to the story and what you believe is wrong. If you have a source that shows the right information, include that too.

## What we do

- **Corrections.** When a story contains a factual error, we fix it and add a dated note at the bottom of the story explaining what was wrong and what is right.
- **Clarifications.** When a story was accurate but could be misread, we add wording to make it clear and a dated note saying so.
- **Updates.** When news develops after we publish, we add the new information and an update note. The story shows an "Updated" time.
- **Editor's notes.** When something about how a story was produced needs explaining, we add a note.

We do not quietly change facts in a published story. Small fixes to spelling or formatting that do not change meaning may be made without a note.

## Removing stories

We rarely remove a story, for example when its source withdrew the information it was based on.

## AI-assisted stories

Stories prepared with help from AI tools follow the same policy. See [how we use AI](/ethics/#ai).

## Every correction, in one place

Our [corrections log](/corrections/) lists every correction and clarification we have published, newest first, with a link to each story.
