(LINTHICUM, MD) - Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early this morning in Anne Arundel County. The deceased has been identified as Marc Occeas, 37, who had no fixed address. Emergency medical services pronounced them dead at the scene, and Occeas's body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

The incident took place shortly after 2:30 a.m. when troopers from the Glen Burnie Barrack responded to reports of a crash on southbound I-295 at West Nursery Road. Preliminary investigations suggest that an MTA bus, which was carrying passengers, was traveling in the merge lane from I-295 to West Nursery Road when Occeas walked from the right shoulder into the highway's travel portion and was struck by the bus.

Following the collision, all passengers on the bus were safely transferred to another bus to continue their journeys. The driver of the bus remained at the scene, and no other injuries were reported. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with road closures that lasted approximately three hours, while officers from the Maryland Transit Authority were also present to help manage the situation.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
